How Much Does In Home Care Cost?

When thinking about arrangements for your aging parent, your first thought might be, "I need to take care of them myself." Considering a nursing home comes with mixed emotions; guilt at the thought of not caring for your parent yourself and stress from the added expense. Nursing homes can be very expensive but making the choice to provide care yourself comes with financial risks and personal sacrifices as well. Thankfully, there is another alternative: In Home Care.

It is true that most seniors would rather live at home. Hiring in home care gives seniors the kind of freedom and independence to which they have grown accustomed. It also has the added advantage of keeping seniors within familiar surroundings, which is excellent for seniors who are slowly losing the gift of sight or suffering from degenerative brain diseases such as Alzheimer’s.

We break down the cost of in-home senior care with Heather Esham, Owner of Senior Independent Living Companions, to show that it is not as expensive as most people tend to think it is.
